Gala Event to Honor Champions of Disability Services

CP Rochester Recognizing Supporters and Advocates

Rochester, NY (October 2, 2015) CP Rochester is hosting its second annual fundraising Gala, which will recognize companies and individuals who were instrumental in the formation of the agency nearly 70 years ago, and those who continue to work tirelessly to help it thrive. The Evening of Stars fundraising Gala on October 10, 2015 is expected to raise $75,000 for the not-for-profit human services agency. All proceeds are applied to the Ability Partners Foundation which is the direct benefactor of CP Rochester and Happiness House. All proceeds benefit the adults and children with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities who receive services from the agencies.

“We are overwhelmed with the support we’ve received for this event from so many individuals and companies,” said CP Rochester President Mary Walsh Boatfield. “Their dedication to our mission will help ensure this Gala will be tremendously successful.”

CP Rochester was founded in 1946 by several parents of children with disabilities. They were looking for a place in the Rochester region that could provide the care and support needed by their children. None of them wanted to follow the convention at the time of ‘institutionalizing’ their children; but rather, keep them at home where they could receive the love and support of their family.

Champions of CP Rochester’s mission who are being honored at the Evening of Stars Gala include the Weir Family who will be receiving The Harold C. Augustin Founders Award; the volunteers who work in CP Rochester’s Adaptive Workshop who will receive the Volunteers of the Year Award; Cardwell Construction which is receiving the Community Partner of the Year Award; Jeffrey Baker who is receiving the Outstanding Board Member of the Year Award; and Dr. Elmar and Catherine Frangenberg who will be receiving the Humanitarians of the Year Award.

“We have been fortunate to have the support and dedication from so many individuals and companies over the years,” said CP Rochester Board Chairperson Jeffrey Baker. “An agency like CP Rochester cannot thrive on its own; it takes the commitment of people from all walks of life to ensure success.”

As a not-for-profit, human services agency, CP Rochester works extremely hard to provide high-quality and much-needed services to over 2,000 individuals every year despite shrinking government reimbursements. The agency relies on generous donors, creative fundraising events, as well as mission-driven corporate sponsors to help bridge the financial gap. The Evening of Stars Gala, like all of CP Rochester’s fundraising events, will help the agency continue to offer services to the adults, children, and families it supports. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 585-334-6000 or visiting www.CPRochester.org/Gala.
