Employment Application

Pool Side Aide

Part time vacancy (4.5 hours a week) in Canandaigua at the Eberhardt Pool. Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Imparts agency philosophy of “Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential” to clients, families, program staff and community resources.
  2. Prepare pool area for treatment.
  3. Review therapist schedule for the day
  4. Take equipment out of locked closets.
  5. Client Care.
  6. Assist with dressing/redressing.
  7. Assist with toileting if necessary.
  8. Assist therapist within pool treatment as necessary.
  9. Obtain and return equipment from deck area for therapist.
  10. Supervise deck and pool related to safety issues
  11. Close pool area after treatment.

Qualified Candidates Require:

  1. High School Diploma.
  2. Water safety certification. (Online Certification Available)
  3. Experience working with the public.
  4. One year experience working with individuals with disabilities.

TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) Program Assistant

Full Time (36 hours/week) vacancy available at our Canandaigua site. Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Functions as the primary assistant to the TBI Program Specialist.
  2. Implements each program participant’s therapeutic and behavioral plans under the guidance of the TBI Program Specialist.
  3. Works with individuals on special instructional projects to achieve goals on each individual’s Program Plan.
  4. Provides the TBI Program Specialist with information about program participants, which will assist in the development of appropriate program experiences for all participants.
  5. Charts individual’s performance according to established guidelines and timeframes.
  6. Assists in the development of instructional materials.

Qualified Candidates Require:

  1. High School Diploma.
  2. One year of experience providing services to individuals with disabilities, preferably working with individuals with traumatic brain injury.
  3. Knowledge of community resources and means of accessing these resources.
  4. Valid NYS driver’s license.
  5. Demonstrates basic reasoning and writing skills.

Speech Language Pathologist

Full time vacancy at the Canandaigua location (37.5 hours per week/School Year). Speech Language Pathologists work primarily with young children with disabilities in individual therapy sessions as well as in classrooms and in the community as part of an interdisciplinary team. May also have some adults on the caseload. Position offers competitive salary with comprehensive benefit package to include paid school vacations, sick and personal time, matching 403(b) Agency contributions, 10 paid holidays, insurance coverage, FSA, etc.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Obtains appropriate permission and approval for evaluations to be conducted.
  2. Evaluates individuals on caseload through testing, observations, parental and team input and medical information.
  3. Carries out treatment programs, developed after evaluation, which are designed to meet individual’s IEP goals or IFSP outcomes.
  4. Schedules speech language therapy sessions for individuals, individually in small groups and in the classroom or community.
  5. Consults with the teacher, as well as other members of the interdisciplinary team as appropriate, to facilitate delivery of coordinated quality services to individuals.
  6. Works with parents as integral members of the interdisciplinary team at school as well as in the home setting.

Qualified Candidates Require:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Master’s degree and Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred.
  2. Licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist in New York State.
  3. Experience working with preschool age children or other individuals with development disabilities preferred.
  4. Valid New York State driver’s license.

Community Habilitation Specialist

Part time (20-25 hours) vacancy available in the Canandaigua area. Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Provides assistance and training to program participants to help them acquire daily living skills which will enable these individuals to better function in their living community or in a more independent living situation.
  2. Provides functional assessment of a wide variety of life skills and provides appropriate feedback to program participants with regard to strengths, areas to develop and barriers to overcome.
  3. Develops appropriate service plan goals and activities to help consumers reach their goals.
  4. Accompanies program participants to locations in the community to help them learn how to access and utilize community resources, including health and safety resources.
  5. Assist program participants in accessing recreational and social activities, thus enabling them to utilize their leisure time appropriately.

Qualified Candidates Require:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Knowledge of community resources and means of accessing these resources.
  3. Valid NYS driver’s license.
  4. Demonstrates basic reasoning and writing skills.
  5. 6 months experience working with individuals with disabilities providing habilitation or rehabilitation and independent living skills training.

Special Education Teacher

Full time vacancy at the Geneva location working in an autism-based integrated preschool classroom as part of a comprehensive interdisciplinary team. Includes competitive compensation with comprehensive benefit plan. Special Education Teaching duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Administers standardized assessment tools to obtain data necessary for the development of the identified special needs student’s Individual Education Program (IEP).
  2. Develops the Individual Education Program (IEP) for each child identified utilizing parental involvement in the development of goals on the IEP.
  3. Organizes a structured instructional program providing for the individual developmental needs of special needs children in collaboration Teacher’s Assistant.
  4. Adapts and modifies the early childhood curriculum/lesson plans to meet the needs of the special needs children.
  5. Coordinates classroom team and planning meetings to facilitate appropriate programming for each child.
  6. Participates in school district Committee on Preschool Special Education and Committee on Special Education meetings.
  7. Orients, mentors and supervises new staff.
  8. Orients, mentors, supports and directly supervises 1:1 aides assigned to special needs children in their classroom.
  9. Supervise students, interns and volunteers placed in the classroom setting.
  10. Develops 1:1 Aide plans defining roles and responsibilities of 1:1 Aides assigned to special needs students in the classroom.

Qualified Candidates Require:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education with NYS Certification in Special Education.
  2. Experience with preschoolers or children with developmental delays.
  3. Knowledge of child development.

Direct Support Professional

Full time, part time, summer and relief positions located in Gorham, NY (between Geneva and Canandaigua) in a residential setting for teens and young adults with disabilities. Evening and overnight shifts available with competitive rates.

Direct Support Professionals duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Provide oversight to ensure safety and supervision of residents.
  2. Provide assistance, training and supervision with various activities of daily living, helping each individual to improve their ability to live more independently.
  3. Accompanies residents to off-site locations/activities helping them to access and utilize community resources.
  4. Assists residents with planning and accessing recreational and social activities.

Qualified applicants require:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Valid NYS driver's license.
  3. Must be able to obtain and maintain Medical Certification.
  4. Experience with special needs population preferred.

Full Day, Half Day and Substitute 1:1 Aides

Full day and half day vacancies at our Geneva and Waterloo site preschool program. Substitute Aides needed for Canandaigua, Geneva and Waterloo preschool programs.

Typical duties of our Aides include but are not limited to:

  1. Implements educational, therapeutic and behavioral plans under the direct supervision of the special education teachers, therapy staff, psychologist and input from early education teacher for their assigned child.
  2. Assists the children throughout the day as directed by the Special Education Teacher.
  3. Supervises assigned child at all times (with the exception of lunch break, meetings and/or training), including during busing and transitional activities.
  4. Assists child in all activities of daily living while promoting independence.
  5. Functions as a positive, contributing member of the classroom team.

Qualified Candidates Require:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with young children preferred.

Teacher Aides

Full day and half day (afternoon) positions working at the Midlakes UPK program located at the Phelps-Clifton Springs School District beginning September 2017 on a 10-month schedule. Competitive rates with benefits.

Teacher Aide duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Performs non-instructional duties under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
  2. Assists the classroom teacher in all children’s activities throughout the day.
  3. Supervises children at all times, including during busing and transitional activities.
  4. Assists in physical care tasks and health related activities as appropriate.
  5. Assists children with behavioral/management needs.
  6. Attends appropriate meetings as determined by the classroom teacher and Program Director.
  7. Demonstrates consistent, nurturing manner toward all children.
  8. Assists with classroom preparation/set-up and the management of classroom materials and equipment.

Qualified candidates require:

Maintenance Workers/Janitorial

Full and part time vacancies at the Canandaigua and Geneva locations performing maintenance and cleaning at the campus buildings. Includes competitive salary with a comprehensive benefit plan. Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Sweep, mop, clean windows and vacuum floor surfaces and strip/wax floors according to cleaning schedule provided by Maintenance Supervisor.
  2. Disinfect all bathrooms and bathroom fixtures on a daily basis using designated cleaning products and following proper protection guidelines.
  3. Perform routine maintenance and repair/replace of light fixtures, air filters and other minor building equipment.
  4. Assures entry and exit ways are clear of debris including snow during the winter months. Assists with clearing snow from sidewalks.
  5. Performs minor plumbing and electrical repairs at any of the Agency properties as requested by supervisor.
  6. Removes garbage and recycling from the building as scheduled.
  7. Cleans and maintains common areas such as public bathrooms, hallways, community room, etc.
  8. Ensures apartments are cleaned and painted when vacated.
  9. Completes monthly fire and safety checks.
  10. Assures housekeeping supplies are in stock.
  11. Reports any hazardous situation to supervisor immediately.

Qualified candidates require:

  1. High School Diploma
  2. 2-3 years experience in building maintenance and janitorial.
  3. Proven ability to work independently
  4. Valid NYS driver’s license/dependable vehicle.


Part time and substitute vacancies available for the Geneva and Canandaigua sites to assist with general cleaning duties. Qualified applicants require:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of paid experience in general building maintenance and cleaning or demonstrated ability to successfully perform such duties.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
